Researcher training & support

We offer a range of training and support for researchers working with Smart Data with an interest in place-based research.  

Training

We are currently in the process of finalising our training provision and will be releasing details shortly.

Expect to see from us:

  • An introduction to HASP data products
  • Safe Researcher Training – a requirement for users of Safeguarded and Secure data
  • Introductory and advanced courses in Python, R and Geographical Information Systems
  • Spatial Analysis for Public Health Researchers


Many of our short courses are Continuous Professional Development (CPD) accredited.

Support for HASP users

The HASP team works closely with users of Safeguarded and Secure datasets to ensure that they have the support to deliver high-impact work.

Each user is supported through the research lifecycle by our Technical & Infrastructure Support and Impact and Engagement teams.

Technical & Infrastructure Support

Available support from our Technical & Infrastructure Support team includes:

  • Set up and management of TREs
  • Technical support and training
  • Assistance with analysis and advice on results
  • Output checking and release

Impact and Engagement

Available support from our Impact and Engagement team includes:

  • Liaising with data partners
  • Stakeholder mapping & dissemination plans
  • Content development – turning outputs into website content, video, press releases or policy briefs etc as appropriate
  • Identifying ongoing policy and dissemination opportunities
